The Concerned Nigerians Group has asked for the immediate dismissal of the Minister of Communication, Sheikh Isa Pantami over his alleged sympathy for terrorists organisations.

Deji Adeyanju, convener of the group, made the call on Wednesday in a letter addressed to the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari.

Adeyanju requested the CoS to prevail on the President to sack Pantami in order to save Nigeria’s image before the international community.

While insisting that terrorists do not repent, the group noted that one of the implications of retaining the Pantami is that countries will no longer trust Nigeria with vital security information.

The group reiterated that people with extremist views like Pantami should not be close to the seat of power in a multi religious country like Nigeria.

Pantami has been under fire since clips of some of his lectures resurfaced over 10 years later, in which he made some comments sympathetic towards extremist sects like Al-Qaeda and Taliban.

Following that, many Nigerians have demanded the resignation of Pantami or his sacking.
