    There was a gun battle between the Police and kidnappers on Tuesday in Abuja.

    Inspector Ambi John was hit by a bullet while he and other operatives were repelling the assailants.

    John, who was leading one of the teams, was rushed to hospital for medical attention, according to PRNigeria.

    A joint team from the FCT Command and Operation Puff Adder engaged the hoodlums.

    The officers responded to distress calls for intervention along the Dankusa, Angwan-Zegele-Zuba axis.

    The police are combing the area and patrolling surrounding communities.

    Kidnap incidences in the nation’s capital have surged in recent months.
