JUST IN: NNDC Shuts Down Operations As Director Dies Of COVID-19 Symptoms
The Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) has shut down operations for two weeks following the death of Chief Ibanga Bassey Etang, acting Director of Finance and Accounts.
YANS reports that Chief Etang died at the Braithwaite Memorial Hospital (BMH), in Port Harcourt after he allegedly took ill and gasping for breath at about 2 am Thursday.
His body was subsequently wheeled to the ‘Holding Area’, called ‘COVID-19 Area’, of Braithwaite Memorial Hospital, Port Harcourt.
This development is said to have occurred following a directive from Abuja, with a view to testing and finding out the true cause of death.
In a memo signed by Silas Anyanwu Esq on behalf of the Acting Managing Director, the shut down takes effect from Thursday, May 28, 2020.
The memo directed all staff of the commission to go into self-isolation for two weeks, while the commission's premises is decontaminated.
