FLASH: Arsenal Sacks Unai Emery

Unai Emery was sacked as Arsenal manager Friday after 18 months in charge.

Emery who has spent less than two years with the club without a win in seven games which is the club's worst run since 1992.

Arsenal, in a statement said the decision had been "taken due to results and performances not being at the level required".

“We announce today that the decision has been taken to part company with our head coach Unai Emery and his coaching team,” read a statement from the club

"The search for a new head coach is under way and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete."

Recall that the Spaniard, who previously led Paris St-Germain to the French league title and won three Europa Leagues with Sevilla, was appointed Gunners boss in May 2018, succeeding Arsene Wenger.

The 48-year-old Spaniard was fired following the 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in Thursday’s Europa League match.

He is to be replaced on a temporary basis by assistant and former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg.
