    The decomposed body of kidnapped policeman, Lawrence Igbero has been found on Thursday by police search party in Rivers State.

    Igbero who was attached to the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Unit 56, was kidnapped about three weeks ago on Ogoni Road.

    The Nation reports that the police tracked the deceased’s phone which
    they noticed was still being used by someone, who later claimed to
    have bought the phone.

    “Through the ‘buyer’, the police tracked and arrested the ‘seller’. It
    was then they confessed to have killed the sergeant and dumped his body in the forest.

    “It was discovered that the suspects were responsible for several other kidnappings and snatching of vehicles and motorcycles in Ogoni.

    “The body of the sergeant was evacuated by the search party. He was identified because his uniform was still on the body,” the newspaper
    quoted a source as saying.

    Rivers Police spokesman, Nnamdi Omoni, while confirming the incident, said an autopsy will be conducted on the remains of the officer who had been deposited in the mortuary.
