APC Stakeholders Back Alia, Tinubu, Warn Against Rainbow Coalition in Benue

Concerned stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State have declared support for the re-election of Governor Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, while cautioning party members against actions they believe could undermine the unity and electoral prospects of the party.

The stakeholders, under the aegis of the Concerned Benue APC Stakeholders and Strategic Alliance, stated this during a world press conference addressed by the Convener of the group, Dr Dominic Alancha.

Alancha said the APC was bigger than any individual, leader, aspirant or political group, stressing that personal disagreements should not take precedence over the collective interest of the party. He disclosed that he had previously opposed Governor Alia’s re-election bid but had changed his position after reassessing what he described as the larger interest of the party.

He urged members with grievances against the governor or party leadership to make use of recognised party organs and internal mechanisms rather than engage in activities capable of weakening the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

Alancha further said that where credible evidence establishes violations of the party’s constitution or rules, the appropriate authorities should act in accordance with due process, irrespective of the status or influence of those involved.

He also expressed support for the Alia administration, saying the group considers its record in office sufficient basis for the governor to seek another term. He similarly declared the stakeholders’ commitment to mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The group appealed to APC elders, leaders and members across Benue State to close ranks and resolve differences through dialogue and established party structures. Alancha also urged the party leadership to uphold the supremacy of the APC constitution and ensure that disciplinary measures, where necessary, are applied fairly and in accordance with due process.

He called on Governor Alia to remain focused on governance and the implementation of his administration’s programmes, while urging party members to concentrate on mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

The stakeholders also appealed to members associated with different political camps to embrace reconciliation, stressing that unity would be necessary for the APC to effectively prosecute the 2027 elections across the state.

The group consequently announced plans to mobilise across local government areas, wards and communities in support of the APC and the re-election bids of Governor Alia and President Tinubu.

Alancha said the group’s position was that the party’s collective interest should remain paramount, urging all stakeholders to work towards strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
