Comrade Lukman Laleye Babalola of Emporium Reporters has been honoured as the Most Outstanding Legislative Reporter at the HallowMace National Legislature Awards 2026. The award recognizes his consistent and impactful contributions to parliamentary journalism and his role in deepening public understanding of legislative processes.
Speaking with journalists moments after receiving the honour, Babalola said the recognition would spur him to do more. “The reward for hard work is more work,” he stated, describing the award as both humbling and motivating.
He dedicated the award to the memory of his late parents, and also to his family and colleagues covering the National Assembly. According to him, their support and sacrifice have been critical to his growth and consistency on the beat. 
Babalola urged journalists, especially parliamentary correspondents, to stay focused and uphold professional standards. He stressed the need for factual, accurate reporting that informs citizens instead of spreading misinformation.
“As members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm, we have a responsibility to inform and educate the public with accuracy and professionalism,” he said. “I feel deeply honoured by this recognition and sincerely thank HallowMace Africa for finding me worthy of this award.”
He also charged his colleagues to remain honest, consistent and passionate about the profession. “Believe in what you are doing because one day the reward will surely come. Everyone must be known for a positive brand,” he added.
Babalola expressed appreciation to everyone who supported him with prayers, encouragement and goodwill throughout his career. He noted that such backing has helped him stay committed despite the demands of covering the legislature.
Earlier, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of HallowMace Africa, Ambassador Sunny Anderson Osiebe, said the National Legislature Awards were instituted to honour lawmakers and media professionals who have distinguished themselves through excellence, dedication and service. He added that this year’s ceremony marked the organization’s 10th anniversary, a milestone he described as proof of consistency, resilience and commitment. Osiebe noted that the awards are designed to spotlight excellence in legislative performance, oversight, effective representation and parliamentary reporting.
In his closing remarks, Babalola called for continued support for democracy and the legislature. “Long live Nigeria’s democracy. Long live the National Assembly. Long live the National Assembly New Media Forum,” he said.
