Senator Moro Condemns Killing of Benue MACBAN Chairman, Demands Justice

Senator Abba Moro, PhD, who represents Benue South Senatorial District and serves as Senate Minority Leader, has strongly condemned the killing of Alhaji Ardo Risku Muhammad. Muhammad was the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN.

The incident occurred on Saturday. According to reports, Muhammad and his friend, Yakubu Isah, were ambushed by gunmen. They were attacked while returning from a peace meeting in one part of Benue State.

Describing the attack, Senator Moro called it barbaric and unacceptable. He stressed that every life is important. He added that no one has the moral or constitutional authority to take the life of an innocent and unarmed person.

The senator has urged security agencies to act swiftly. He said they should carry out a thorough investigation to identify those responsible. He also insisted that the perpetrators must be arrested and prosecuted.

Senator Moro acknowledged the response of the state government. He noted that Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, condemned the killing of Ardo and Yakubu in a timely manner.

However, the senator also raised concerns about prevention. He stated that if the governor had been more proactive in fulfilling his constitutional duty to protect lives and property, the tragedy might have been avoided.

He extended his deep condolences to the families of the two men who were killed. Senator Moro said he shares in their grief at this difficult time.

Finally, he called for collective action to address insecurity. He urged all stakeholders to work together to end the rising wave of violence in Benue and restore peace to affected communities.
