Governor Biodun Oyebanji has secured a sweeping re-election victory in Ekiti State, cementing the All Progressives Congress’ grip on power with one of the most commanding performances in the state’s electoral history.
Results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission showed Oyebanji defeating his challengers in all 16 local government areas. He polled 319,224 votes to earn another four-year mandate. 
His closest rival, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party, secured 40,533 votes. Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress trailed with 12,872 votes.
Declaring the result early Sunday, Returning Officer Adenike Oladiji confirmed the APC candidate had met all constitutional requirements and was duly returned elected.
The outcome underscored the governor’s dominance statewide. APC posted wide margins in major voting centres and won every LGA decisively.
In a notable upset, PDP candidate Oluyede lost Efon Local Government Area, his home base. APC took 8,742 votes there to PDP’s 2,051.
From Ado-Ekiti through the North and South Senatorial Districts, results reflected broad voter support for the incumbent. INEC figures showed 384,940 voters accredited out of 988,251 registered. Of 382,109 ballots cast, 375,777 were valid.
The governor’s strongest showings came in Ado, Ekiti West, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ikole and Ijero, where APC supporters turned out in force. Beyond the numbers, the result signals strong public endorsement of his first-term record and gives him fresh political capital to push his development agenda for the next four years.
