Yemi Adaramodu, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Senate, has clinched the All Progressives Congress ticket for Ekiti South Senatorial District. He secured 12,200 votes in the party’s primary election, positioning him as the APC candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The contest drew significant attention across the district due to the profile of the aspirants and the district’s weight within Ekiti State’s APC structure. Political observers described the race as both fiercely contested and high-profile. 
Adaramodu defeated two well-known party figures. Former Senate Minority Leader Biodun Olujimi placed second with 7,420 votes. Former House of Representatives member Bamidele Faparusi followed with 5,502 votes.
Voting took place across the Ekiti South Senatorial District under the supervision of the APC Primary Election Committee. The process attracted delegates and stakeholders from across the senatorial district.
Chairman of the committee, Adedoyin, announced the results and said the exercise followed the party’s constitution and established electoral guidelines. He stated that all requirements were met during the process.
According to Adedoyin, Adaramodu polled the highest number of lawful votes cast by delegates. He added that the outcome reflected the confidence delegates and stakeholders have in the Senate spokesman.
“With the total votes recorded, Senator Yemi Adaramodu is hereby declared the winner of the APC senatorial primary election for Ekiti South Senatorial District and returned as the duly elected candidate of the party for the forthcoming senatorial election,” Adedoyin said.
The result is being read as a consolidation of Adaramodu’s influence within the APC in Ekiti State. Analysts note that defeating experienced contenders like Olujimi and Faparusi strengthens his position ahead of 2027, and the outcome has already sparked reactions among party supporters who see it as evidence of internal competition and delegate choice in Ekiti South.
