The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed new leadership for its two main male youth national teams. Abdu Maikaba will take over the U20 Boys, known as the Flying Eagles, while Eboboritse Uwejamomere will head the U17 Boys, the Golden Eaglets.
The appointments received approval from the NFF Executive Committee after a recommendation from the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee. Both roles are central to Nigeria’s player development pathway.
Maikaba brings a wealth of domestic coaching experience to the Flying Eagles job. He has managed several of the country’s top clubs and understands the demands of Nigerian football at the highest level. 
He is also familiar with the national team structure. Maikaba previously coached the Golden Eaglets and served as assistant coach to the Flying Eagles during Paul Aigbogun’s tenure as head coach.
Known for his composed demeanor, Maikaba has worked with Enyimba FC, Wikki Tourists, Kano Pillars, and Plateau United. His most notable success came in 2017 when he led Akwa United FC to victory in the President Federation Cup, Nigeria’s oldest football competition.
Uwejamomere now assumes control of the Golden Eaglets, a team with five FIFA U17 World Cup titles to its name. His recent work has focused on analysis and academy development rather than first-team management.
For many years he has been a coach-analyst with the Super Eagles, contributing to the senior men’s setup behind the scenes. He currently heads the academy at Sporting Lagos FC, which recently earned promotion back to the NPFL.
His coaching background also spans women’s football and European youth systems. Uwejamomere has worked as an analyst for the Super Falcons and held academy coaching roles at Millwall FC, Gillingham FC, and Nottingham Forest FC in England. He was previously head coach at Stormers FC in Abeokuta.
