Senate President Godswill Akpabio warned on Wednesday that he would sanction Senator Adams Oshiomhole if the Edo North lawmaker continued to disrupt proceedings, saying he could be “taken out of the Senate.”
The threat came after Oshiomhole repeatedly interrupted the session while Akpabio was reading the Votes and Proceedings from the previous sitting. The senator persistently shouted “Point of Order,” halting the flow of business.
The exchange adds to an earlier confrontation between the two lawmakers and has fueled speculation among observers about a growing contest for the Senate Presidency ahead of 2027. 
The disruption began at the start of plenary when Oshiomhole made repeated interjections, quickly drawing the attention of the presiding officer.
Akpabio responded by calling on Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to remind Oshiomhole of the Senate’s Standing Rules and proper conduct during debate.
In his remarks, Kalu described Oshiomhole’s behavior as “tautological,” but the interruptions did not stop.
Addressing Oshiomhole directly, Akpabio urged him to follow the standards expected of a senator. “If you are a soldier, you behave like a soldier. If you are a police officer, you behave like a police officer. So if you are a senator, you must go by the rules,” he said.
Akpabio then formally ruled Oshiomhole out of order and struck the gavel, stating, “Senator Oshiomhole, you are ruled out of order.”
