Senate Minority Leader and Senator for Benue South, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro PhD, on Friday personally purchased his Expression of Interest and Nomination form at the PDP State Secretariat in Makurdi, Benue State. His direct presence underscored his commitment to the race and to the party’s supporters.
Addressing members of the State Working Committee and a crowd of party faithful, Senator Moro pledged to battle not only for his own return to the Senate but also for the success of every PDP candidate on the ballot. He declared with confidence that the Benue Government House would return to PDP control in 2027.
Speaking on his decision to pick up the form himself, Moro said: “I am excited to pick the form as first senatorial aspirant. I came to buy it myself, not through proxy, to show that we are serious.” The move was a clear message to constituents about his hands-on approach to leadership. 
The senator also celebrated recent judicial wins for the party, pushing back against critics who doubted PDP’s electoral prospects. “Naysayers and pessimists said we won’t get a platform to contest election, but today, we are contesting on the platform of PDP and that alone calls for celebration aside the victories that await us come 2027,” he told supporters.
Moro struck a note of unity and patience for other aspirants within the party. “I congratulate those who were nominated by their communities. Those who didn’t get nomination today should be patient, tomorrow is another day. God has time for everything,” he said, acknowledging the disappointment of losing a nomination.
Drawing from his own political journey, he reminded listeners of past setbacks that turned into greater opportunities. “My name was replaced when I was nominated as minister, the first and second persons who got nominated spent barely two years in office, but I got nomination as federal minister and spent three years,” Moro recounted.
He closed with a firm pledge to Zone C, reaffirming that the district remains a PDP stronghold. “I will fight for myself and other PDP flag bearers to win our elections for our party. Zone C is a home of PDP and we shall demonstrate that in the forthcoming general elections,” he vowed.
The senator ended his address by assuring constituents of sustained, quality service and promised never to betray the trust of Benue South. “Thank you and God bless us all,” he said.
